My point is that when you play in the toughest conference in the nation and you finish 4th, losing to the number one team in the nation by 2 points in basically a road game your one of the 65 best.

Look at it this way, were the Giants the best team in football this year....for the most part NO..but they were the best on Super Bowl Sunday. Guess the folks on here arguing for VT think the Pats should be the Super Bowl Champion based on their regular season. It doesn't happen that way. You play big when it counts or you go home. </div></div>
i agree......had they won the ACCT......it wouldnt matter is they went 4-30 on the season
secondly........the thing that still get slost on people is that their overall resume was abysmal
look beyond their record........they didnt beat a single top 50 team during the regular season
thats why they didnt get in.......no other reason......their resume didnt show that they deserved to be there
Maybe in the 65 best for 1 night...that means diddley in a loss. Maybe they should give away 2 slots for "moral victories"..lol...BTW, the NCAA tournament isn't the 65 best teams in the nation. It is the champions from all conferences, and the rest is filled with 25-30 also rans...VT wasn't good enough to be included in the also rans.
What if you play the #1 team twice and you average losing by 20.5 to them?
lol....good one...um...oops...musta forgot about that...

if you watched the selection show on CBS you would know that your point is irrelevant
they had the head of the selection committee on and billy packer asked him about conference rankings and he said flat out that they pay no attention to that
they dont even have conference rankings among the stats they use
he said they look at each teams body of work individually......and how it compares to the other teams looking for at large bids
which is why miami finished below VT in the ACC......yet still made it in
better overall resume
that is what they look at........so again......your point is pretty much moot
The following teams are also rans?
UT
Texas
Clemson
Georgetown
Michigan St.
Duke
Stanford
Notre Dame
Vanderbilt
Connecticut
Stripes, I was just using that because these guys are claiming you have to be playing well at the end of the season. If anything that shows they improved to the point where they deserved a bid.

why should that matter?
wouldnt beating the last place ACC team twice by 15 balance that out?

with their resume.....and less than 20 wins......to think they deserved to get in.........you must be sniffing glue
if you are a top 25 team as most of those are.......it doesnt matter......you played well enough all season to get in regardless
I said champs and also rans....If they didn't win their tournament then yes, they are also rans. That is the definition of the term. Those teams on that list are partially why VT is sitting at home. The other part of the also rans is the other part of the reason.
